Short Description of Functionality
This page enables you to search the database created in the context of the project
DiFuPaRo (“Distribution and Function of ‘Partitive Articles’ in Romance”) for different
syntactic, morphologic and
sociolinguistic properties of indefinite noun phrases showing a partitive article (or,
to some minor extent, an indefinite definite article) stemming from different Romance
languages/varieties. More
precisely, the database consists of material from the
ALAVAL, a Francoprovençal corpus,
the ASIt, a corpus of
Italian dialects, and the
OFROM, a corpus of spoken (Swiss)
French. These data are continuously extended by data from own fieldwork conducted for
Francoprovençal and Northern
Italian varieties. The DiFuPaRo database is organized along the three different entities
"Linguistic properties related to the Nominal Group", "Sociolinguistic information" and
"Information on data" (data
collection, translations), each of them formed by three different types of attributes:
(i) attributes with values that can be selected from a list, (ii) attributes with values
consisting of text which can be
searched for by typing in (parts of) words and (iii) attributes with numeric values,
which again have to be typed in manually to be searched for.
It is possible to select multiple values of one attribute and/or of different (types of)
attributes simultaneously and to display your selection at any time in the rubric “View
selected values”. In case there
are attributes whose value(s) you don’t want any longer in your list of selected values,
you can delete them here. Furthermore, you have the possibility to choose between the
two logic connectors AND and OR
when selecting values from different attributes (note that the default connector is
AND). Finally, the result of your query is displayed in the rubric “View selected
sentences”, where you see the sentences
the relevant noun phrases are found in, their translation in English or French, the
variety of the respective speaker as well as a link to the original corpus if existing.
Before exporting the result of your
query, you can select the values of further attributes which you want to be displayed in
your final Excel list by clicking on “Select additional columns of TSV”.
